Kibo (“the App”, “we”) is a custom keyboard for iPhone. We built Kibo to respect your privacy: we do not collect any data, we have no servers, no accounts, and no analytics. This policy explains exactly what the App does and does not do with your information. By using the App you agree to this policy.

1. Full Access is optional and off by default

Kibo’s keyboard extension declares RequestsOpenAccess = true, so iOS shows an “Allow Full Access” switch for Kibo. This switch is turned off by default. You only enable it if you choose to, in Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Kibo.

When Full Access is OFF (the default), iOS prevents the keyboard from accessing the network or the system clipboard. Only the copy/paste buttons and the location key are unavailable; everything else — typing, themes, sound effects, light effects, emoji, moving the cursor, and deleting words — works normally.

When Full Access is ON, iOS allows the keyboard to read and write the system clipboard. Kibo uses this capability only for the copy-word, copy-line, and paste buttons in its toolbar. Full Access is also what lets the keyboard read your location when you press the location key, described in section 4. Even with Full Access enabled, Kibo still does not collect, log, or transmit anything you type, and Kibo has no servers to send anything to.

2. We do not collect your keystrokes

• We do not collect, log, store, or transmit anything you type — no characters, words, sentences, passwords, or messages. This is true whether Full Access is on or off.
• Everything you type is passed directly to the app you are typing into, exactly as iOS intends. Nothing is retained by Kibo.
• We do not build any profile, typing history, or dictionary from your input.
• If you enable Full Access and use the copy/paste buttons, clipboard contents are handled only on your device to perform that action. Kibo does not store, log, or transmit your clipboard.

3. The only data Kibo stores

The App stores a small amount of preference data so the keyboard behaves the way you configured it. This is the complete list:

• The theme ID you selected.
• Your sound effect, light effect, and haptic feedback on/off settings.
• Your auto-capitalization and number row on/off settings.
• Your recently used emoji, so the emoji panel can show them first.
• Your key transparency level and your shuffle on/off switches.
• Any saved phrases you create — ordinary reusable text such as a reply template, an address, or an email signature. You write these yourself; Kibo never generates them from what you type.
• Any saved places you create — a place you asked Kibo to remember, with the name and street address it was saved under, so the location key can insert it later. You choose when to save one; Kibo never records where you are on its own.
• Your chosen date format and location format.
• A flag recording whether Kibo Pro has been purchased.

All of this is stored locally on your device inside a shared App Group container belonging to Kibo. It never leaves your device. It is not uploaded, not backed up to our servers (we have no servers for it), and not shared with anyone.

Secure entries are not stored here. They are handled differently and more strictly — see Section 4.

4. Secure entries (ID numbers, cards, passports)

Kibo Pro lets you save values such as an ID number, a bank card number or a passport number so you can insert them without retyping. Because these are sensitive, they are handled differently from everything else in this policy:

• They are stored in the iOS Keychain, encrypted by the operating system. They are not stored in the App Group container described in Section 3, and not in any ordinary preferences file.
• Each entry is saved with iOS's user-presence protection. Reading the value requires Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode, every time — whether it is being inserted into an app or revealed inside Kibo itself. This requirement is enforced by iOS, not by Kibo's own code.
• They are saved as “this device only.” They are never synced to iCloud Keychain and never restored onto a different device from a backup.
• Lists in the app and in the keyboard show only the last four characters. The full value is never displayed on screen — it goes from the Keychain directly into the app you are typing into.
• We cannot read them. We have no servers and the App makes no network requests; there is nowhere for a secure entry to go, and no mechanism by which we could retrieve one.
• Deleting an entry removes both its Keychain value and its record. Deleting the Kibo app removes all of them.

You choose whether to use this feature at all. Kibo works fully without it.

4a. Location

Kibo has a location key that inserts where you are into whatever you are typing — as coordinates, a street address, a city, or a link to a map. It exists so you can send someone your location without leaving the app you are writing in.

• Your location is read only when you press that key, or when you ask the App to save the place you are standing in. It is never read in the background, never read while you are simply typing, and never read while the keyboard is idle.
• Your location is not uploaded to us. We have no servers to send it to. It goes into your text, and — if you chose to save the place — into the local storage described in Section 3.
• It is not stored otherwise, not logged, and not shared with anyone. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or tracking, and it is not linked to your identity.
• Turning a set of coordinates into a street address is done by Apple’s geocoding service on iOS, which is what performs that lookup for every app on the device. Kibo does not send your location to any other service.
• The keyboard extension can only read your location while Full Access is enabled, because iOS gives an extension no location and no network without it. Saved places work either way.
• You can refuse location access, or withdraw it at any time, in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Kibo. The rest of the keyboard is unaffected.

5. No analytics, no advertising, no tracking

• Kibo contains no third-party analytics SDKs.
• Kibo contains no advertising SDKs and shows no ads.
• We do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not sell or share data with data brokers.
• We do not collect device identifiers, contacts, or any personally identifiable information.
• We do not collect your location. Location is read only at the moment you press the location key, is placed into your own text, and is never transmitted to us — see Section 4a.

6. Accounts

Kibo has no user accounts. There is no sign-up, no sign-in, no email address, and no profile.

7. Purchases

Kibo is free to download. It offers Kibo Pro, an optional in-app upgrade — available either as an auto-renewable subscription billed weekly or yearly, or as a one-time purchase — which unlocks the full set of themes, sounds, lighting effects and the features described above.

• The purchase is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive, process, or store any payment information — no card number, no billing address, no name.
• Kibo does not know who you are. Whether Pro is unlocked is recorded as a simple flag on your own device.
• Restoring a purchase is handled by Apple against your Apple Account. No account is created with us, because we have none.

8. Account Deletion

Kibo has no accounts and collects no personal data, so there is no account to delete and no server-side data to erase.

The only data that exists is the local preferences listed in Section 3 and any secure entries described in Section 4, all stored on your own device. Deleting the Kibo app from your iPhone permanently deletes all of that data. Nothing remains with us, because nothing was ever sent to us.

9. Children’s privacy

Kibo does not knowingly collect any information from children, and in fact collects no personal information from any user regardless of age.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If the App’s behavior ever changes — for example, if a future feature would collect or transmit data — we will update this page before that change ships, and the “Last updated” date above will reflect it.
